German Doner Kebab launches new menu for £5: what they offer instead of McDonald's.

According to The Sun: The huge fast-food chain German Doner Kebab presents a new menu for £5 in all its restaurants across the UK. This could be a serious alternative to McDonald's prices.

The Fiver Menu from GDK will include snacks such as 'Kebags' filled with Doritos, as well as 'Doner Grilled Cheese' in this promotional offer.

The new menu will replace Value 2.0 to offer consumers lighter yet vibrant dishes, with plans for expansion in the coming months.

This delicious selection will appear in GDK restaurants nationwide from September 22.

What’s included in the menu?

• Fiver Munch Wrap – Tortilla wraps filled with your choice of doner meat, fresh onion and tomatoes, crispy fries, and GDK's signature garlic sauce.
• GDK Don Burger – Juicy doner meat in a soft brioche with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, gherkin, and burger sauce.
• Five Doner Grilled Cheese – A delicious dish made with waffle bread, filled with chicken, beef, or doner, with melted cheese sauce and gooey Gouda.
• GDK x Doritos Loaded Kebag – Cool Original flavor – Doritos filled with doner meat, tomatoes, onions, cheese sauce, and three GDK signature sauces.
• GDK x Doritos Loaded Kebag – Chilli Heatwave flavor – A spicy version with Chilli Heatwave chips, filled with doner meat, tomatoes, onions, cheese sauce, and three signature sauces.

GDK's marketing manager, Chris Waters, noted:

“We know that value matters a lot, but we also understand that our customers do not want to sacrifice flavor.”

He added:

“It’s about giving people access to GDK every day at a lower price. The new Fiver menu is our response to consumer feedback, not just for affordable options but also lighter portions.”

The chain, inspired by Middle Eastern street food, opened its first restaurant in the UK in 2015 and currently has over 150 restaurants across the country.

According to the brand, the shawarma is made from high-quality meat sourced from Germany. Over the past ten years, the business has expanded into major cities, transport hubs, and shopping centers.

Prices compared to McDonald's

While GDK's offerings are impressive, their new Fiver menu will cost more than discounted items at McDonald's. For example, a burger can be bought for £1.19, a portion of fries for £1.19, a cheeseburger for £1.39, and other items at similar prices. However, the price of the Fiver Menu is lower than standard offerings at McDonald's.

GDK's CEO, Simon Wallis, noted earlier this year that he aims to transform shawarma from

“something you eat at 2 AM after 12 pints of beer,”

He emphasized:

“Shawarma has associations only with a certain time after a certain amount of alcoholic drinks. We are changing that.”

Thus, GDK's new menu offers exciting alternatives for fast food fans, combining quality and affordability. The brand actively responds to consumer needs, merging traditional flavors with modern trends, which could make it a competitor in the fast-food market.
