The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) thwarted an assassination attempt on the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, which was planned for Easter before Putin's inauguration. Attempts to eliminate the head of the SSU, Vasyl Maliuk, and a large-scale terrorist attack in a capital hypermarket were also prevented.

Maliuk reported this during his speech at the 'Forum. Ukraine Year - 2025'.

According to him, the assassination attempt on Budanov was directed from Lubyanka, and the executors were to be high-ranking officials of the state protection management who had been recruited by the FSB.

'They were harboring their criminal intent. And we detained them at the stage of an unfinished attempt to commit this crime,' emphasized Maliuk.

After that, Putin dismissed the head of the fifth service of the FSB of Russia, General-Lieutenant Beseda. The SSU has documented materials approved by a court regarding the curators of Ukraine from the FSB, including regarding Perlin and his department.

The special service also prevented a terrorist attack in one of the construction hypermarkets of a French network in Kyiv. According to Maliuk, explosive devices were planned to be placed near flammable mixtures and detonated at peak hours, after 6 PM, when there are many visitors in the store.

'Thank God, we documented this in advance,' stressed the head of the SSU.

In three years, the special service has identified 102 enemy agent networks, including those that planned to eliminate the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

'They act like true terrorists. When they try to artificially link us to some crimes that we are not involved in, we, in turn, officially document them,' emphasized Maliuk.

Strikes on the Enemy's Rear

Regarding strikes on the enemy's rear, it was noted that SSU drones and Defense Forces successfully hit 48 targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. Among them were military objects, ammunition depots, and airfields with aircraft, as well as facilities of the oil and gas industry.

'The enemy conducts missile-drone attacks - and these are real acts of terrorism. We, in turn, choose only legitimate targets,' emphasized Maliuk.

According to him, when Russia attacks Ukrainian energy, it is an act of genocide, while Ukraine strikes at objects that 'feed dirty rubles' to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. As a result of these operations, Russia missed out on about 11 billion dollars.

The head of the SSU cited an example of a successful operation - the destruction of ammunition depots in Toropets, where 160 thousand tons of enemy ammunition were destroyed, including half of all stocks of 120 mm shells.

'Not only the Security Service of Ukraine is working. Our brothers from the GUR, SSO, drone system forces, and others are also involved,' added Maliuk.
