New Government’s Strategic Goals

According to Espreso.tv: Vasile Tofan addressed parliament during a plenary session, laying out five core objectives for his administration. These include:

• driving economic growth;
• modernizing the country through European Union accession;
• boosting government efficiency;
• strengthening national security;
• improving citizens’ quality of life.

These points form the backbone of the program Tofan presented, urging lawmakers to approve it.

“I am not asking for a blank check. I am asking you to vote for a program with a clear direction, measurable indicators, and well-defined deadlines,” he stated.

On July 7, 2023, President Maia Sandu nominated Tofan as Moldova’s prime minister candidate, following the resignation of his predecessor Alexandru Munteanu on July 3, 2023. However, the socialist and communist parliamentary factions voted against the new government. Deputies from 'Democrația Acasă', the 'Alternativa' bloc, 'Partidul Nostru', and independents abstained.
