According to The Sun: Manchester City and Man Utd honored Ricky Hatton with a minute of applause before the Manchester derby.

Players from both teams wore black armbands to show respect for the legendary boxer after his tragic death.

Sadly, Ricky Hatton was found dead at his home in Manchester this morning – he was 46 years old.

Tributes to the boxer came from all corners of the sports world, including condolences from stars such as David Beckham, Amir Khan, and Tyson Fury.

 

"Officers were called by a member of the public to visit an address in Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45 a.m. today, where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are currently no suspicious circumstances."

Hatton was a big Manchester City supporter and had a box at the Etihad. The club released a statement in honor of his memory.

 

"Manchester City is shocked by the news of Ricky Hatton's death at the age of 46. Ricky was one of the most beloved and respected City fans, who will always be remembered for his brilliant boxing career, in which he won world titles in both welterweight and lightweight. The entire club extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time."

"We can confirm that a minute of silence will take place before today's game against Manchester United."

Experts Roy Keane and Micah Richards, both former City players, also highlighted the importance of this event and shared their heartfelt words about Hatton before the match.

Richards said: "This news is terrible. I was shocked, as he is an icon. A British icon in boxing and sport. A true Manchester City fan, but most importantly, he was a man of the people. The loss of a real person."

Ruben Amorim applauds during the tribute. Both teams came together to applaud Hatton. Hatton was a huge Manchester City fan.

Ricky Hatton, known as "The Hitman", won four world boxing titles, becoming a legend of the sport after fighting the best boxers in the world.

After retiring from 1997 to 2012, he worked as a promoter and trainer, and also appeared on television shows.

In particular, he participated in "Dancing on Ice" last year and famously had the Gallagher brothers carry him to the ring during his fight in 2008. Hatton always remained a loyal supporter of the band Oasis, attending their concerts.

Many touching posts highlighting his greatness have appeared on social media: "Rest in peace, The Hitman."

Tyson Fury also expressed his condolences on Instagram: "We mourn the legend @rickyhatton, may he rest in peace. I can't believe this has happened as he is so young."

Hatton faced tough times after retirement, battling alcohol abuse and depression, but three years ago he returned to boxing and had an exhibition fight.

His career was a testament to extraordinary dedication and skills in boxing, and he will be remembered by many as one of the brightest figures in the world of sports.
