Josko Gvardiol Almost Left Football: Why the Longest Game Did Not Bring Joy.
Gvardiol's Transfer to Manchester City
According to The Sun: Josko Gvardiol became the second most expensive defender in football history, signing a contract with Manchester City for 77 million pounds. However, the player practically left the sport because he no longer felt joy from the game.
His transfer in 2023 from RB Leipzig put him in second place for the largest deal after Harry Maguire, who moved to Manchester United from Leicester for 80 million pounds. However, the Croatian defender shared his feelings about it:
“I had already thought about leaving football. Right now I feel happy in this game.”
The desire not to leave football, as well as the new opportunities that opened up at Manchester City, were decisive factors in continuing his career. Gvardiol's arrival at the club promises new achievements and challenges on the pitch.
This transfer will be an important milestone in the young defender's career. Gvardiol has already shown his potential at RB Leipzig, and now he faces new challenges at one of the strongest clubs in the world. Hopefully, at Manchester City he will be able to find that same joy in the game and elevate his level to new heights.
