Manchester United signed the captain of our youth national team of Colombia: transfer details.
Manchester United signed Christian Orozko
According to The Sun: The Manchester United team has officially announced the signing of the captain of the Colombian U17 national team, Christian Orozko.
This 17-year-old defender managed to join his current club Fortaleza at the beginning of the year, but United managed to seal the deal to get ahead of the competition.
Manchester United signed the captain of the Colombian youth team Christian Orozko Shutterstock EditorialOrozko has played nine matches for the Colombian youth national team in 2024 and is considered one of the most promising young players in South America.
He will officially join the 'Red Devils' next year when he turns 18 in July, according to FIFA rules regarding international transfers.
United want to avoid repeating the mistake they made with Moïses Caicedo when they backed out of a deal due to difficulties with agents and a price tag of 5.5 million pounds — only to see his transfer to Chelsea for a record fee of 115 million pounds two and a half years later.
This transfer is another step in United's new player acquisition strategy, which has changed since the club signed 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon in the summer.
The new sporting director Jason Wilcox has been actively seeking talent abroad since his appointment; the club is also monitoring 19-year-old left-back Dany Sinata from Angers, a youth international from Mali, who is a teammate of Sekou Kone in the national team, who joined United last year.
The team has significantly updated its scouting system, reducing the number of scouts from over 100 to just ten, with director of player recruitment Christopher Vivell leading the charge.
Aggressive transfer strategy
This streamlined approach seems to be yielding results, and Orozko's arrival is indicative of a more determined and aggressive transfer strategy at Old Trafford.
The club finished last season in 15th place in the league and has since heavily invested in new players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
They have also tried to sign Benjamin Sesko, who was on the radars of Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer.
Still, the results remain unsatisfactory: the team has only won two matches, and the pressure on manager Ruben Amorim is mounting after the 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

However, the club is focused on achieving positive changes and has confirmed its willingness to support Amorim in rebuilding the team.
Christian Orozko is becoming a new symbol of Manchester United's ambition to invest in the future, aiming to return to previous successes. The latest strategy of acquiring young talents could be key to increasing the team's competitiveness in the coming seasons.
