Antony 40 Days in Hotel Exile: How Manchester United Sold the Star.
According to The Sun: The Manchester United football club lost Brazilian winger Antony, who spent more than 40 days in an airport hotel waiting to leave the team. The cost of his stay was 175 pounds per night.
The 25-year-old player transferred to Real Betis for 22 million pounds after a successful loan period in the middle of last season, and his transfer to Manchester United in 2020 cost the club 86 million pounds.

The Brazilian trained separately from the main team and stayed at the Delta Hotels Manchester Airport Marriott with teammates, including Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho. He remained in uncertainty while clubs discussed the terms of the transfer after Ruben Amorim decided to leave him.
Relations with Manchester United
However, speaking with El Desmarque, Antony thanked Manchester United for all the moments spent at the club.
“These were very tough months in England, over 40 days in a hotel, training separately... I feel like they did not show me the due respect, but there is no point in that. I don’t want to create disputes; that’s life.”
Antony revealed that his family arrived in Seville four or five days before the deal was finalized, as he had already rented accommodation. He emphasized that his heart told him to return to Betis.
The footballer could not hold back tears when he was presented as Betis' new player, ending his 'bad' time at Manchester United. The atmosphere at Betis under Manuel Pellegrini is 'the best he has ever felt', and he hopes to win the title this season.
“The team is incredible. This is the best atmosphere I’ve ever had. Everyone is smiling, everyone is communicating, and that matters a lot.”
Antony dreams of a title for the club after the disappointment in the Conference League final last season against Chelsea. Currently, Betis has lost only one match in La Liga, won three, and drawn three times. They also ended their first European League match in a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, where Antony scored a goal.
In turn, Manchester United has won only two games this season, and their 3-1 loss to Brentford became the third in the Premier League, not to mention the historic defeat against League Two team Grimsby in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Return of Tyrell Malacia
Information has also surfaced about the return of Tyrell Malacia to first-team training after almost 250 days away.
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim noted that Malacia would initially return to training with the youth team but is now rejoining the first team.
Sources within the club report that Malacia’s return to the main squad was always planned and is not a reaction to the team's fluctuating form.
Malacia missed 550 days due to knee issues that required two surgeries. This return will undoubtedly be a great ray of hope for the team and fans.
