Staff Changes at Manchester United

According to The Sun: Manchester United has suffered a loss due to the departure of one of its key staff members.

The club's chief academy scout, Luke Fedorenko, is leaving the team after nearly nine years with the club.

Fedorenko has accepted an offer from a major football agency.

He began his career at the club as the chief academy scout in 2017, moving from Sheffield United, where he headed the academy recruitment for players aged 7 to 18.

This move is part of the Bethlehem Project - an initiative aimed at expanding and modernizing the scouting team, which has been criticized for underfunding and falling behind competitors.

In 2021, Fedorenko was promoted to head of local recruitment, and in August 2023 he became head of academy recruitment. He helped create a new recruitment team and implemented modern data analysis and video methods.

Under his leadership, the club attracted several young talents, including Arsenal juniors Chido Obi Martin and Aiden Haven.

Players such as Bendito Manato, Jayden Kamason, and Jay Jay Gabriel, who is already being called 'the next Messi', also joined the academy.

During Fedorenko's tenure, the club generated over £200 million from the sales of academy stars, which has been an important factor in meeting United's financial obligations.

Fedorenko is not the only significant change at the club: former academy director Nick Cox is also leaving Manchester United to become Technical Director at Everton.

Cox has been replaced by Steve Torpy, and Fedorenko's departure, whom the club did not want to let go, will provide Torpy with the opportunity to form his own team of executives.

Another change: Ben Parker has started working as head of performance analysis at United, replacing Paul Brandt, who left after the announcement of his exit in May.

These staff changes reflect a transformation in the club's management, which may impact its future development. The departure of specialists like Fedorenko opens up new opportunities for implementing modern approaches to scouting and developing young talent. This could have far-reaching consequences for the academy and the team as a whole.
