Wright, who previously played for Aston Villa, Sheffield United, and Blackburn, is in talks with the club about the position of coach responsible for the development of professional players.

According to information from The Athletic, he will be another member moving from Manchester City to United.

Omar Berrada left Guardiola's team last year to become the new managing director of United. Additionally, former City sporting director Sam Erith is now serving as the performance director at United.

Football director Jason Wilcox was previously the academy director at City from 2017 to 2023 before joining United after his work at Southampton. He played alongside Wright at Blackburn, and now both will collaborate on the development of the United Academy.

Wright will also report directly to Travis Binnion, his former teammate at Sheffield United, who is now the head coach of United U21 and is responsible for player development.

This decision follows the appointment of Steven Topi as the new academy director of United, while Nick Cox moves to Everton as technical director.
