Senne Lammens impresses Tom Heaton at Manchester United: details from the veteran.
Debut of the new Manchester United goalkeeper
According to The Sun: Manchester United veteran Tom Heaton shared his impressions of the club's new goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who joined the team for £18 million on transfer deadline day.
GettyHead coach Ruben Amorim sought to strengthen the team in the goalkeeper position due to the recent poor performances of Andre Onana and Altay Bayındır. Despite being with the club for a short time, the Belgian goalkeeper has already made an impression.
On the Training Ground Guru podcast, Heaton positively evaluated Lammens:
“It's only been a few days in training, but he looks like a really good guy. He is calm, but has a strong personality. His goalkeeping fundamentals are very impressive, and I told him so after a few days of training.”
“I really like his goalkeeping fundamentals.”
Controversial opinions about Lammens
However, despite Heaton's positive comments, Paul Scholes expressed doubts about the new goalkeeper, stating that his price indicates a lack of the appropriate level. On The Good, the Bad and the Football podcast, he noted:
“They have big problems with goalkeepers. Did they really need to wait for the game against Grimsby to realize that Onana is not up to the mark?”
“Donnarumma is the biggest mistake I see. As soon as he becomes available, they need to give PSG whatever it takes.”
Additionally, Lammens' brother, Tom, believes that Senne made a mistake choosing Manchester United and it would have been better to move to the Turkish club Galatasaray.
“There is a lot of quality there, and you can compete for trophies.”
Although Lammens has yet to debut for Manchester United, Heaton's comments suggest that he will have a chance to prove himself in the near future.
Amid the controversial evaluations of the new goalkeeper, it is important to note that Manchester United is in the process of reorganizing the team and searching for a strategy to improve performance in upcoming matches. Whether Lammens can live up to the expectations of fans and coaches remains to be seen.
