Postponement of the Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille match

According to The Sun: The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille has been postponed to tomorrow evening, which will coincide with the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

This match, known as 'Le Classique', always generates great interest among fans of French football.

The match was scheduled to start at the Vélodrome stadium at 19:45 BST. However, due to poor weather conditions in southern France, authorities decided to postpone the match by almost 24 hours.

Weather forecasts promise heavy rain and storms this evening, making the pitch unplayable and travel for fans dangerous.

The French Football Association (LFP) set a new kickoff time for the match — 19:00 BST on Monday, which coincides with the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris.

Thus, while a lavish party is taking place at the Théâtre Châtelet in the French capital, PSG players will be on the pitch located about 800 km away in Marseille.

PSG has eight players nominated for the 'Ballon d'Or', including their former star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Among all the nominees, the main contender for victory in this prestigious nomination is Ousmane Dembele.

It is worth noting that, unlike some of his teammates, Dembele may be able to attend the ceremony.

This is possible as he is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during international competition last month.

Dembele, 28, may be at the ceremony alongside his teammates Desire Doue and Joao Neves, who are also missing the match due to injuries.

Other nominees such as Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz are most likely to participate in the match at the Vélodrome.

Head coach Luis Enrique is also among the five nominees for Coach of the Year, along with Antonio Conte, Arne Slot, Enzo Maresca, and Hansi Flick.

In addition to personal nominations, PSG is also vying for the 'Club of the Year' award.

Enrique's team is currently in first place in Ligue 1, having won all four matches of the season. On Wednesday, they began their title defense in the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Atalanta at Parc des Princes.

Marseille, on the other hand, recently suffered a setback, losing 2-1 to Real Madrid.

Reuters Amid the match's postponement and coincidence with the ceremony, all eyes are on the fact that the best footballers in France will have the chance to be at two exciting events at the same time. The excitement surrounding 'Le Classique' remains relentless, especially in light of PSG's dazzling form this season, while Marseille tries to regain strength after their recent defeat.
