Marta Kostyuk lost in the third round of the US Open.
Ukraine's number one racket Marta Kostyuk finished her performance at the US Open-2024. In three sets, the Ukrainian tennis player lost to the American Emma Navarro.
The match lasted 1 hour 55 minutes and ended with a score of 6:4, 4:6, 6:3. Kostyuk served twice, made seven double faults, and used six out of 11 break points.
Kostyuk lost the first set but was able to take the second. However, at 3:1, she lost five games in a row, and with them, the match.
Thus, Ukraine lost the last representatives in the singles grid of the US Open.
Recall that the Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (No. 28 WTA) could not reach the 1/8 finals of the US Open-2024.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian tennis players Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk reached the third round of the competition. Marta Kostyuk in the second-round match defeated Britain's Harriet Dart. The first set was quite a close fight, but in the second, Marta achieved a confident victory – 7:6(10), 6:1.
As reported, on August 26, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year – the US Open, started. Immediately, six Ukrainian tennis players took to the courts on the first day of the competition.
