Mass 'bomb threats': police report on results of checking 60% of establishments.
Police checked 60% of the establishments that were reported to have been mined, and no explosives were found in any of them; the inspection of the remaining objects continues. This was reported by the National Police.
According to law enforcement, letters about bomb threats continue to arrive, so it is too early to talk about the final number of these reports. Of those received, half have already been processed, all of them turned out to be false.
The National Police noted that false reports of events, which consume resources to respond to, have been coming in regularly for almost three years now.
Among the goals of the hybrid war that Russia is waging against Ukraine are mass panic and the exhaustion of the system of state and law enforcement agencies, diverting police work by reporting the mining of educational institutions, critical infrastructure facilities, and government agencies.
Law enforcement officers urge citizens to be vigilant and, upon receiving information about mining, to immediately leave the building.
It is emphasized that knowingly false reports of threats to citizens' safety are subject to criminal liability in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years (Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Recall that today, October 14, the capital was engulfed by a wave of bomb threats to government institutions and educational institutions. Bomb disposal experts and dog handlers are working on the ground. The police are inspecting facilities that received anonymous bomb threat reports. Anonymous letters about the mining of their buildings are being sent to the email addresses of state authorities, local governments, and other objects throughout the country. Inspections are being carried out.
It was also reported that more than 60 foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine received anonymous letters about building bomb threats. Similar letters were received by the structural units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In some cases, diplomatic missions had to temporarily suspend consular services for citizens, which were resumed immediately after inspections were completed.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha instructed to enhance security measures in Ukrainian diplomatic missions. Diplomats are in close contact with law enforcement and authorities of the host countries to conduct security checks where necessary.
