Medvedev threatens the EU with war over the confiscation of Russian assets for Ukraine.
According to ТСН: Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has once again expressed threats towards Europe. This time, the reason for his words was the discussion in the European Union of the possibility of using blocked Russian assets to support Ukraine.
He believes that such actions could be perceived as
“a special casus belli”(a reason for war) with
“all the consequences”.
Medvedev commented on the possibility of confiscating Russian assets, blocked, in particular, in Belgium, in connection with the provision of so-called reparations credit.
Specifically, he emphasized that if
“the crazy European Union tries to steal Russian assets”, it could be regarded as
“a special casus belli with all the consequences for Brussels and individual EU countries”.
Medvedev also warned that the return of these funds may not occur through the courts, but
“through genuine reparations paid in kind by the toppled enemies of Russia”.
These statements from Medvedev illustrate the tension between Russia and Europe, especially in the context of economic sanctions and international relations. The continuation of dialogue on this topic indicates a worsening of relations between the Kremlin and Western countries, which could have serious implications for security in the region.
