Metinvest directed 5.2 billion UAH to the army: how the initiative 'Steel Front' works

According to ТСН: The Metinvest group has allocated 5.2 billion UAH to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. This assistance is provided free of charge as part of the 'Steel Front' initiative by Rinat Akhmetov.

The total contribution of the company to support the state amounts to 9.72 billion UAH. This information is provided in the Metinvest report published on Defender's Day.

“Every day, defenders, including thousands of Metinvest employees, give their most valuable asset for the future victory of Ukraine. That is why, in wartime, the company is focused on its key mission: to support the national economy and strengthen the country's defense capabilities,” says the group's CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov.

Metinvest's steel has been used for defense since the beginning of the war: the company launched the production of mobile shelters made from corrugated steel. Since the beginning of the invasion, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received 805 such constructions, as well as new command posts and underground hospitals.

This year, the construction of the second medical point of the NATO Role 2 hospital was completed, costing over 21 million UAH. The first underground hospital has already helped save more than 6,000 military personnel. Metinvest also built the first underground training hub in Ukraine and the civilian steel bunker 'Citadel' in Borodyanka.

Projects to Support the Military

The company is implementing many projects to protect equipment: fighters have received 300 metal screens for military equipment, including Abrams and Bradley, as well as a triton armor for the Patriot system. In addition, service members are provided with 'Lance Catchers', anti-mine trawls, mobile buggies, mini bastions, bulletproof vests, and other military products.

Together with the military, Metinvest is building defense lines: more than 200 km of fortifications have been constructed in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions.

The company has transferred more than 8,230 reconnaissance drones, 2,000 thermal imaging devices and optical equipment, 875 units of communication equipment, 450 uninterruptible power systems, and 705 vehicles to the defenders. For transportation, 1.53 million liters of fuel were allocated. One of the latest large aid shipments to the National Guard included radio-electronic protection systems worth a total of 30.8 million UAH. Metinvest has also supplied the military with 31,500 first aid kits and tourniquets and directed nearly 26 million UAH to the development of tactical medicine in partnership with the PULSE foundation.

Support for Veterans

After returning from the front, Metinvest provides military personnel with a comprehensive adaptation program. More than 1,000 veterans have already returned to the enterprises, and more than 10.5 thousand employees served in the defense ranks. The company offers veterans employment, retraining, and training at Metinvest Polytechnic, as well as psychological and physical rehabilitation, and expanded medical insurance.

In the regions where Metinvest operates, veteran centers and initiatives function, including the 'Free Waves' rehabilitation program in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Kamianske, as well as the platform 'Talk. Veteran'. Metinvest's veteran support program has received high praise from independent experts in Ukraine and abroad.

By providing substantial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Metinvest Group demonstrates an active position in supporting national defense. These initiatives include not only direct provision of equipment and materials but also care for veterans returning from the front, helping them adapt to civilian life. Through the establishment of medical points and support for rehabilitation programs, Metinvest reaffirms its social responsibility during a difficult time for the country.
