MinEnergy has updated the catalog of technologies for the energy system: what has changed

According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Energy has announced that as part of the Ukraine-Denmark Energy Partnership Program (UDEPP), an updated version of the Catalog of Critically Important Technologies for Ukraine's energy sector has been developed. The first version was presented in February 2024.

Updated List of Technologies

The new catalog includes an updated list of key energy generation technologies that are critical during the current situation in Ukraine's energy system. The main goal of this catalog is to assist stakeholders in prioritizing the selection of technologies for electricity and heat production, as well as in the recovery structure and attracting the necessary investments for a stable passage through the winter months.

“Unlike the first edition, the updated document contains an additional criterion - the recovery time after damage, which is particularly relevant in the context of military threats. Furthermore, the second edition includes sections describing initiatives that contribute to the faster implementation of solutions and enhancing the resilience of the energy system.”

Technology Assessment Criteria

The catalog also provides data on the cost and technical specifications of energy generation technologies. The assessment of technologies is carried out according to a number of criteria, including - power in the winter period, speed of implementation, technology resilience, and electricity cost. Additionally, it is noted that the evaluation methodology has been improved after consultations with experts.

Thus, the new edition of the Catalog of Critically Important Technologies for the Ukrainian energy sector will provide better opportunities to prioritize the selection of technologies for electricity and heat production, including new criteria and initiatives to enhance the resilience of the energy system under various conditions.
