US Treasury named the condition for ending the war: Europe must impose tariffs on Russian oil.
The US Treasury Secretary calls on Europe to act to end the war in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: Scott Bessent, head of the US Treasury, believes that Russia's war against Ukraine could end within 60-90 days if European countries impose secondary tariffs on Russian oil. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Reuters.
'We expect that Europeans will now do their part, and we are not moving forward without them,' said Bessent.
Bessent also emphasized that some European countries that continue to buy Russian oil or oil products are effectively financing Russian aggression.
The United States is ready to cooperate with European countries to strengthen sanctions against Russian companies such as 'Rosneft' and 'Lukoil'. Moreover, the idea of using frozen Russian sovereign assets, seized after the start of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, is being considered.
The statement from the US Treasury Secretary underscores the importance of united efforts by world powers to end Russian aggression in Ukraine and strengthen global security.
The actions of European countries in the current conflict may significantly influence the course of events. The decision to impose new sanctions could be a significant step towards stability in the region and also reaffirm solidarity in international politics regarding Ukraine.
