The minimum wage in Poland will rise to 4806 zlotys: when to expect changes.
In Poland, starting from January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will be 4,806 gross zlotys (approximately 54,460 hryvnias), and the minimum hourly rate will be 31.40 gross zlotys (355 UAH). These changes are outlined in a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, as reported by the information portal 'inPoland'.
Why the unions are dissatisfied with the new conditions
The government's proposal regarding the minimum wage has caused dissatisfaction among unions. They insist that the minimum should be 5,015 gross zlotys. Legislation requires that the minimum wage must increase at least by the predicted level of inflation annually. If at the beginning of the year the minimum wage is less than half of the average salary in the country, the increase must also take into account the projected growth of real GDP.
Other aspects of the situation in Poland
It is worth noting that Poland is one of the countries that accepts the largest number of Ukrainian refugees. Many of them have already found jobs and are receiving official income in this country. At the same time, it is currently possible to travel to Poland by car, train or on foot, as air travel is temporarily suspended. Passport and customs control on international trains is conducted during the movement or at border stations without passengers exiting the carriages.
Poland plans to increase the minimum wage from the beginning of 2026, which has caused dissatisfaction among unions. Meanwhile, the country continues to accept Ukrainian refugees seeking a better life and employment opportunities in Poland.Read also
