EU Foreign Ministers to Visit Ukraine on March 31, Says Sybiha, Announcing Joint Statement on Tribunal.
EU Foreign Ministers Hold Special Session in Ukraine
According to UATV: On March 31, Ukraine will host an extraordinary meeting of European Union foreign ministers. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed hope that the gathering will produce a joint declaration on establishing a special tribunal to investigate Russian crimes committed against Ukraine. The session coincides with a symbolic memorial date linked to the Bucha tragedy, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Andrii Sybiha stated: 'They are coming to us, and some have already arrived to take part in the meeting of EU foreign ministers — a special out-of-session gathering in Ukraine. This aligns with a symbolic commemorative date related to the Bucha tragedy. It will also serve as another opportunity to demonstrate to the world the scale of crimes committed by Russian occupiers and the Russian aggressor on Ukrainian soil.'
Additionally, diplomats will present data on the state of Ukraine’s energy sector and outline preparations for the upcoming heating season. These issues are especially pressing given the current challenges the country faces. This out-of-session meeting of EU foreign ministers promises to be a key milestone in international support for Ukraine and discussions on further steps to counter aggression.
Significance of the Meeting
The importance of this special EU foreign ministers’ meeting in Ukraine lies not only in the symbolic weight of the date but also in the international community’s opportunity to intensify efforts to support Ukraine. The push for a special tribunal to investigate crimes, along with updates on Ukraine’s wartime energy situation, highlights the severity of the challenges the country endures. These talks could lay the groundwork for future actions aimed at ensuring regional security and stability.
