Ministry of Defense saved 500 million UAH on drones: how procurement has changed.
According to inkorr.com: The Office of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has managed to save almost 511 million UAH on the purchase of FPV drones. This became possible thanks to framework agreements based on tactical and technical characteristics — requirements for the functionality and capabilities of drones.
'The implemented procedure has allowed saving over 500 million UAH of state funds while maintaining high quality of equipment. This is a vivid example of effective procurement that strengthens Ukraine's defense capability,' emphasized the head of the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Osadchy.
Economic results of FPV drone procurement
The total expected cost of the procurement was 2.058 billion UAH, while actual contracts were signed for a total of 1.547 billion UAH. This provided about 25% savings. The most significant savings in a separate lot exceeded 70 million UAH.
'Thanks to the new procedure, the defense agency saved almost 25% of the expected cost of procurement. This will allow purchasing more drones and equipping the military with more equipment for the same amount of funds,' noted the agency's director Arsen Zhumadylov.
Significant savings are notable in separate lots. For example, in one of them, the expected cost was 202.3 million UAH, while the winner offered 141.2 million UAH, which means savings of 61.1 million UAH.
Some manufacturers have already sent the first supplies of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense reported that the procurement process for FPV drones took place in a closed module of Prozorro, ensuring the protection of sensitive information about manufacturers: proposals can be submitted both directly and through official representatives.
By adhering to the tactical and technical characteristics of FPV drones and rational organization of procurement, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has managed to significantly save funds on these technological products. This will strengthen the country's defense capability and provide the military with modern equipment at affordable prices.
Such results testify to the effectiveness of new approaches to public procurement, which are becoming especially important in wartime conditions. The saved funds can be redirected to a greater number of equipment, positively affecting the ability of Ukrainian military personnel to operate in difficult conditions.
