Putin does not plan peace with Ukraine: expert named the only condition for an agreement.
According to ТСН: Publicist and political analyst Vitaly Portnikov expressed the belief that Russian President Putin has no intention of concluding a peace agreement or ending the war against Ukraine.
Portnikov's Comments
In an interview on the YouTube channel “Kuluari Zabelinoi,” he emphasized that the chances of signing a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will only arise after Putin's death. He noted:
“What Putin says is of no significance. When he talks about the legitimacy of the president... I can give him a recipe for how to sign an agreement with a legitimate president of Ukraine. It is necessary to have an agreement on a ceasefire...”
Portnikov believes that Putin does not want to end the war and stated:
“As long as Putin is not ready for a ceasefire, one can clearly say that the war will continue for as long as it lasts.”
He also added:
“If you agree on a peace plan before a ceasefire, then you are doomed to an endless war.”
In conclusion, Portnikov noted:
“There will never be a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. It is impossible when the constitutions of both countries record the territories they claim.”
Earlier, he also noted that losing Ukraine will mark the beginning of the end of the Russian Empire.
Portnikov's words reflect a deep understanding of the current political situation and the difficulties faced by the parties to the conflict. His assessments clearly demonstrate skepticism about the prospects for peace in the near future, indicating a lack of grounds for diplomatic resolution. The situation remains extremely tense, and the question of peace or its absence remains at the center of international politics.
