Ukraine's Mobilization: Which Family Circumstances Do Not Guarantee a Deferral
According to Novyny.live: Under Ukraine's general mobilization, all individuals eligible for military service can be called up unless they have a legal basis for deferral. Family ties alone do not provide protection from conscription, meaning that even those with significant family responsibilities may be required to serve.
According to Ukraine's Law 'On Mobilization Training and Mobilization,' individuals of conscription age without legal grounds for deferral are subject to mobilization. The law specifies that deferrals may be granted to those who:
- are supporting three or more minor children,
- are single parents,
- are caregivers for a person with a disability or a seriously ill relative,
- have a disability themselves or are temporarily unfit for service due to health.
However, even citizens with a deferral can be sent for a military medical commission in only two specific cases.
Intensification of Mobilization Measures
In Poltava, authorities plan to intensify mobilization efforts, which includes detaining eligible individuals on the streets and in state institutions. This indicates an activation of the mobilization process and increased enforcement of conscription measures.
This mobilization drive is part of Ukraine's broader effort to ensure national defense amid ongoing conflict. The need to replenish military units has made service increasingly urgent. The heightened enforcement in cities like Poltava reflects the operational demands of a prolonged war, where maintaining military personnel levels is critical for national security.
