Moldova's President: No Current Plan to Remove Russian Troops from Transnistria.
Resolving the Transnistria Conflict
According to Novyny.live: Moldovan President Maia Sandu has stated that the resolution of the Transnistria conflict falls under the authority of the government and the Bureau for Reintegration. She emphasized that, as of today, there is no decision regarding the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldovan territory.
Sandu noted that this issue remains a key priority for the country.
"This does not mean it is not an important priority for us,"she said. However, the President also pointed out that the country currently lacks a solution to this problem.
"It is obvious that the Russian Federation has no intention of withdrawing them,"she added.
The Status of Russian Forces
Consequently, the issue of the Russian military presence in Transnistria remains unresolved, with no concrete steps currently in place for their removal from Moldova. The Transnistria question continues to be relevant for the Moldovan government, but resolving this conflict requires further discussion and coordination.
The situation surrounding Transnistria remains complex, as the region has long-standing historical and political disputes. The continued presence of Russian troops is a source of concern for both Moldova and neighboring countries, potentially affecting regional stability. This frozen conflict, a legacy of the Soviet Union's collapse, has persisted for over three decades. It is crucial for the Moldovan government to continue seeking paths for a peaceful settlement, engaging international partners and organizations in the dialogue.
