Moldova's List of Undesirable Performers

According to Novyny.live: Moldova has published a roster of artists whose participation in events within the country is discouraged, and Ukrainian singer Oleh Vynnyk has been included. According to the document, these recommendations do not constitute an outright ban on hosting events featuring artists from the list. However, Moldova's Ministry of Culture has warned that invited performers may be denied entry into the country.

Vynnyk, who relocated to Germany at the start of the full-scale war, now finds himself on this blacklist. He has removed all posts from his Instagram account, which may indicate an attempt to distance himself from the controversy. The singer stated that his departure was legal, as he holds residency in Germany. He also emphasized:

“I was and remain Ukrainian.”

Cultural Tensions and Political Backdrop

In 2024, Vynnyk announced his return to the stage, and in 2025 he appeared in a patriotic T-shirt with a message supporting Kharkiv. He also noted that

“using social media platforms against the enemy is inappropriate.”
It is worth noting that the vast majority of artists on the blacklist are Russian performers, including the following:

  • Morgenshtern
  • Irina Krug
  • Klava Koka
  • Guf
  • Egor Kreed
  • Basta
  • Lyusya Chebotina

The situation surrounding Oleh Vynnyk and other artists highlights the strain in cultural relations between Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the impact of political circumstances on regional cultural life. Placing performers on such a blacklist may reflect efforts by governments to safeguard their cultural spaces and influence, particularly in light of the war in Ukraine and Russian aggression. This development could also affect the future careers of Vynnyk and other artists striving to remain active on stage amid a complex political landscape.
