IOM reports a sharp increase in civilian casualties in Ukraine: July figures.
According to inkorr.com: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has expressed serious concern over the rising number of civilian casualties in Ukraine.
In its statement, IOM noted that in July 2025, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 286 deaths and 1388 injuries among the civilian population, the highest numbers since May 2022.
'The civilian population in Ukraine continues to bear the heavy burden of war, as Russian strikes hit cities and villages both at the front and beyond,' said the organization.
The organization also supports the call of the UN Secretary-General for a ceasefire aimed at achieving a fair, comprehensive, and lasting peace in Ukraine.
The issue of displaced persons remains pressing: 5.7 million people are displaced worldwide, with 3.8 million in Ukraine. Meanwhile, 4.1 million individuals have already returned to their former places.
Protection of civilians is a priority
Since 2022, IOM has actively provided assistance to those affected and supports the recovery of communities suffering from hostilities and displacements. The organization highlights the urgent need to protect civilians and prevent the escalation of violence.
The statement from the International Organization for Migration underscores the extreme seriousness of the situation regarding civilian casualties in Ukraine and calls for quicker actions to protect civilians from violence.
