The Falcon and Eagle Caught in the Rain During Nice vs Roma Match: A Comical Video.
Unfortunate Greeting Before the Match
According to The Sun: The Europa League match between Nice and Roma began with a traditional flying eagle soaring above the stadium. However, due to a watering mishap, both the trainer and the eagle found themselves under a spray of water.

The French club has been following this tradition since 2013. The eagle named Mèfi, which is the club's symbol, was spotted at the Allianz Riviera arena before the game started. It landed on the arm of falconer Jean-Philippe Roman, who rewarded it with a treat for the performance.

However, during this process, the sprinklers unexpectedly went off, dousing both Roman and Mèfi with water. Roman, rubbing his head, tried to wring out his jersey while Mèfi, spreading its wings, attempted to dry its feathers.
TNT Sports commentators confirmed that the situation was quite comical, noting:
“Not sure the eagle is thrilled about this.”

Failure During the Match
Unfortunately, the game ended unfavorably for the home team — Nice lost to Roma with a score of 2-1. This result highlighted Nice's poor start to the season: the team has only won two of its five opening Ligue 1 matches and lost three.
The eagle Mèfi got its name through a fan voting during the 2013/14 season, where 70% of participants chose this name. It was officially named during a match against Lyon on May 17, 2014.

Mèfi has been present at all of Nice's home matches since then, even traveling to Paris for the French Cup final in 2022, where the club failed to win the trophy, losing to Nantes 1-0.
The eagle continues to be a symbol of the club and a fan favorite, reminding about the importance of traditions in football, where emotions always play a key role.
