It also turned out that 55 percent of respondents would like to see more signature celebrations from players after scoring goals.
The study was initiated by OLBG, which also created a fun quiz that determines goal celebrations based on several personality questions.
“Celebrations in football are one of the best things about the game. It's the moment when all the training and effort a player put in to score a goal comes to life,” said Jake Aston, a football editor at OLBG.
“Looking at the list, you can see incredible celebrations from the past, and it's great to get fans' thoughts on the most memorable.”
The study also showed that 68 percent believe watching players' signature celebrations is enjoyable.
Those who participated in compiling the list noted that celebrations help players stand out (46%) and give the game a playful touch (43%).
38 percent claim they turn goals into entertainment off the pitch.
But 22 percent even copied or performed goal celebrations themselves, with the most common being Ronaldo's 'Siu' (52 percent) and Cole Palmer's 'That's Cold' (24 percent).
Among those who repeated these moments, most did so during training (55%) or while watching football on television (54%).
44 percent admit they did it just to celebrate some personal achievements at home.
Humor or playfulness and connection with fans (both 38 percent) are considered key aspects of iconic celebrations, while 32 percent say it should include a signature pose.
Inspiration for Younger Fans
A study conducted by OnePoll found that 83 percent believe that players influence younger fans with their celebrations.
82 percent think it positively affects the team that scored.
However, with the introduction of VAR, fans feel that players now celebrate more cautiously (39%), and their reactions have become less spontaneous and more restrained (31%).
“It's amazing to see people's desire to repeat these celebrations not just in a sports context but at home during everyday activities,” added Aston.
“Yes, the introduction of VAR at the highest level has led to these celebrations sometimes getting delayed.”
However, this shouldn't stop them completely, as the moment when the ball hits the net, even if it's being checked, remains special.
