US Vice President at the Munich Security Conference
On February 14, 2025, US Vice President Jay D. Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to hold such an event and expressed his joy at being in Germany.
Vance emphasized the importance of shared values and the prudent use of political power to improve the lives of nations. He also expressed sympathy and support for Munich and all those affected by the attack.
Speaking about security, the Vice President noted that the US takes European security seriously and believes in a prudent resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He urged Europe to take a step forward regarding its defense.
Vance stressed that the internal threat lies in Europe's deviation from its values. He cited examples of violations of democratic values and freedom of speech in European countries. Vance called for respecting the opinion of the people and open dialogue with differing views. He highlighted that it is important to have a democratic mandate and listen to the voices of citizens.
Vance also called for changes in policy regarding mass migration and noted that the voices of citizens matter in making political decisions. He emphasized that democracy should be based on the principle of the voice of the people. Vance urged not to fear the voice of the people and to respect their opinion.
