Full scholarship at a private school: how to get a free education for your child.
Groundbreaking letter and unpredictable future
According to The Sun: Sophie Goffin tearfully opened the thick, luxurious envelope with the school's embossed logo in her municipal home. This was not ordinary mail — the contents of this letter would decide whether her little daughter could get a free place at a prestigious private school.
Sienna Goffin received free education at a private school thanks to a scholarship Sienna's scholarship included school trips in grades 4 and 5, as well as a trip abroad in grade 6
Sophie mentioned that applying to a private school can be daunting, but it's worth it
Sophie recalled:
“It was a very tense moment. I found out whether my daughter would receive a free private education.”'When I read that Sienna received a full scholarship, I screamed with joy! I will never forget the feeling of pride and the huge smile on my daughter's face.'
“It was like winning the lottery. Even today, I can't believe it happened. She received a free private education.”
Sophie, who runs her own cat-sitting business and lives in Uxbridge in west London, could never have afforded the tuition costs of £30,000 a year, including expenses.
Needs and opportunities
Sophie believed that a private school would better support Sienna. 'Sienna started her schooling in September 2016 at a state school, was very bright, and quickly achieved her goals in the first two years. I asked the school for extra work, but due to the large class sizes, she was falling behind. If we didn't take action, she would have gotten bored,' the mother noted.
Sophie decided to focus on obtaining a full scholarship. She approached the Independent Schools Bursars Association for advice and also checked school websites for available scholarship places.
“Most scholarships are awarded based on merit and achievements. They typically only offer a small discount,” she explained. 'Scholarships are a golden ticket to elite private schools, as they are based on family needs. The greater the financial need, the greater the reward.'
Choosing a school
Sophie and Sienna visited the Maltman's Green Girls' School in Gerrards Cross, which was within reach for them. The school has been operating for over 100 years and admits girls from two to 11 years old.
Sophie noted: “Sienna's eyes lit up when we were there. It was a real educational wonder.”
To receive a full scholarship, parents had to fill out forms as scholarships are awarded to low-income families. Sophie emphasized the importance of having all financial documents in order. 'Sienna also took a written assessment in English literature and mathematics.'
“Free private education can become a reality. Sienna is proof that the impossible is possible, regardless of your income.”

Sienna completed sixth grade and is now homeschooled, but still keeps in touch with her friends from the private school. Sophie added: “I always dreamed she would receive this quality of education, and when it became a reality, I couldn't believe it.”
Sophie was impressed by the school facilities, which included a swimming pool and a 3D printer
Sienna is homeschooled but still maintains contact with her school friends
Sophie urged parents not to give up, noting that it is possible to win a scholarship place: 'This is a golden ticket that helps a child like Sienna to learn and thrive.'
“Free private education is a reality, and Sienna proves it.”
This story of Sophie and Sienna demonstrates how, through effort and professional support, one can overcome financial barriers and ensure quality education. Scholarships provide opportunities for children from various socio-economic backgrounds to receive quality education, which is often considered inaccessible. Sophie's situation can inspire other parents to seek alternative pathways for their children's education.
