Davis' coach on the fight with Paul: the main problem is the size of the gloves.
Davis' coach expressed concerns before the fight with Jake Paul
According to The Sun: The coach of WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis shared his main concerns before the exhibition match with Jake Paul.
Davis will face Paul, a blogger turned boxer, on November 14 in Miami.
GettyDue to the size difference, the fight will not have professional sanctioning and will not count on their records.
For safety, additional measures have been implemented – both boxers will use large 12-ounce gloves, and Jake Paul must not exceed a weight of 195 pounds.
However, Davis' coach, Calvin Ford, suggests returning to standard gloves – 8 ounces for Davis and 10 ounces for Paul.
“I said the fight is possible because I've watched Tank and young boxers compete against big guys for many years. Yes, he is big. For me, it's even like Jake in the first open fights, if someone knows about amateur boxing. My biggest concern is the gloves since we don't fight in 12-ounce gloves, that’s for training. My suggestion is to put Tank in eights and (Paul) in tens.”
“The exhibition fight format allows wearing tens, and we will be in eights, then we can compete normally,” Ford added.
The match will conclude with the announcement of a winner – by decision of the judges or by knockout, and will take place over ten rounds of three minutes each.

However, Ford later announced on social media that Davis' team itself requested 12-ounce gloves, which will remain in effect.
Paul won against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June, allowing him to rank 14th in the WBA cruiser rankings.
Meanwhile, Davis split points with Lamont Roach and declined a rematch in favor of a fight with Paul.
“Tank makes everyone famous he fights. Roach meant nothing before,” Ford concluded.
