In the Odesa region, at the port of 'Pivdennyi', a new grain terminal is planned to be built for 200 million dollars. In addition, the state wants to update the trading fleet and replace Soviet-era vessels with modern ones. This was reported by the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine.
Grain Terminal
The investment company umgi has created a project for the construction of a modern grain terminal at the 'Pivdennyi' port. According to the plan, the throughput capacity of the facility will be 9 million tons. Additionally, it will be able to accommodate Post-Panamax type vessels at its own berths. This refers to the class of ships whose dimensions do not allow them to pass through the old locks of the Panama Canal.According to preliminary estimates, the construction of a new terminal will cost 200 million dollars.Fleet Upgrade
Ukraine plans to allocate over 100 million dollars to implement a number of projects in sea ports. This money will go towards the repair of berths, railway infrastructure, roads, buildings, and all other facilities that have been damaged due to enemy shelling. In addition, the procurement of new vessels, pilot boats, and other equipment is planned. This is connected with the fact that 60% of the fleet was built back in the Soviet era. Therefore, ships are extremely difficult to repair, as components are produced in Russia. The planned modernization aims to solve the existing problem.'The costs of maintaining them are significant, and the components and spare parts for them are produced in Russia. Therefore, we are very limited in our ability to repair them. Thus, part of the renewal program is the creation of a drone technology center, as well as the procurement of a modern fleet, vessels, pilot boats, and other equipment.'Recall that recently we wrote about the preparation for an attack on saltpeter in the Odesa region. And also about Romania's desire to buy a port near our region. The 'Pivdennyi' port in the Odesa region plans to develop a new grain terminal and update the country's trading fleet, investing significant resources in these projects. Such steps are aimed at improving and developing the infrastructure of the sea ports of Ukraine.Read also
