An 18-year-old British volunteer has died in the war in Ukraine.
A British volunteer was killed fighting against Russian troops
18-year-old James Wilton from the United Kingdom died in the war against Russian forces. He joined the armed forces after finishing college, his father told the BBC.
He wanted to join the British Army but decided to study animal care at college. Soon, he started dreaming of going to Ukraine to provide assistance. His family initially did not support this idea, but the boy could not change his decision.
In April, after finishing college, James arrived in Ukraine to fight against Russian troops. He joined the Defense Forces and successfully completed basic training.
James was killed during his first combat sortie in eastern Ukraine. Although he did not want to go there, he joined due to his best friend, an American named Jason.
He wanted to help Ukraine
A soldier who was close to James told the Sun how their group was attacked by Russian drones while crossing an open field. He treated James like a younger brother.
The father of the fallen soldier made a journey of over 2800 kilometers to Ukraine for his son's funeral. He feels great doubt and claims that James was unable to accomplish everything he wanted.
The British volunteer also sustained injuries from an enemy FPV drone and lost an arm and a leg during evacuation from Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Near Pokrovsk, a 19-year-old Polish citizen, Filip Antosiak, also died, who left his studies in Britain to volunteer for a Ukrainian strike drone unit.
