Four Banks and a Pawnshop Hit with Fines by Ukraine's Central Bank: Who Pays What.
Actions Taken by Ukraine’s National Bank
According to Мінфін — Крипто/Фінанси: In June 2026, the National Bank of Ukraine imposed penalties on four banks and one non-bank financial institution for legal violations. These measures range from monetary fines to formal written warnings.
Penalties for Banks and the Non-Bank Entity
The biggest penalty among banks was levied on JSC 'PUMB', which will pay 10 million UAH. Other banks received the following fines:
- JSC 'Ukrsibbank' - 400,000 UAH
- JSC 'Tascombank' - 200,000 UAH
JSC 'Universal Bank' received a written warning, indicating the severity of its violations but avoiding a financial penalty.
For the non-bank sector, the largest fine was imposed on LLC 'I Lombard', which will pay 4.096 million UAH. Additionally, this company was fined 100,000 UAH for breaching currency regulations. These actions highlight the National Bank of Ukraine's stepped-up oversight of financial services.
The enforcement underscores the critical need for compliance in the banking and financial sectors, pushing institutions toward more responsible operations. This heightened scrutiny suggests the regulator aims to strengthen the stability of the financial system and safeguard consumer interests—especially important given the economic challenges the country currently faces.
