The world has discovered another large oil and gas field, this time in the Brazilian Santos Basin. British Petroleum (BP) identified this field and has already named it the largest in the last 25 years. Researchers note that the field contains a significant amount of carbon dioxide, and the creation of a production center in Brazil is planned. BP will conduct additional research to determine the field's potential. In 2025, the company found oil and gas in ten other locations. BP has shifted its focus to oil and gas extraction from 2025 after unsuccessful attempts to invest in low-carbon technologies. A production target of 2.3 to 2.5 million barrels of oil per day is planned by 2030. Significant oil reserves were also discovered in the Baltic Sea this July.
