According to The Sun: Dorking Wanderers signed a fan to the goalkeeper position due to an injury crisis.

Terry Dunn, a long-time club supporter, is preparing to take the field in a match against AFC Totton on Saturday.

DORKING FC X Dorking Wanderers signed a 54-year-old fan to the goalkeeper position amid a personnel crisis – the main goalkeeper, Harrison Foulkes, is injured, and the loaned goalkeeper will not be able to play until Monday.

Club chairman and coach Mark White jokingly noted the “lack of mobility” of 54-year-old Dunn during his introduction.

“In an era when passion is rare, what Terry lacks in mobility, he makes up for with heart – and in one game, we just have to come to terms with that,”
he said.

According to the club information, Dunn last played on the field back in 1997, when he achieved several promotions in local leagues.

“Playing as a goalkeeper is like riding a bike – you never forget it. I still play regularly in walking football,”
Dunn noted after signing the contract.
“As a Wanderers fan, no one will try harder than me to keep a clean sheet on Saturday,”
he added.

Among fans, there has been controversy: some consider this a PR stunt, while others support Dunn.

One fan joked: “Manchester United scouts will be watching him as a replacement for Onana.”

Another added: “This is definitely PR, isn’t the second team of Dorking playing without a goalkeeper in the Southern Combination League?”

And yet another commentator wrote: “It’s a pity there wasn’t a teaser video initially, but actions must be taken. Go Terry.”

One commentator even asked: “Is it already April Fools’ Day?”

This situation at Dorking Wanderers illustrates how the media and fans can react to unconventional club decisions. Involving a fan in the game not only emphasizes the passion of supporters but also questions the strategies of personnel decisions in sports teams. Whether Dunn can impress on the field or if it’s truly just a club joke – we will see this upcoming weekend.
