Navrocki on the meeting with Zelensky: 'We have lost the element of partnership'

According to ТСН: The President of Poland, Karol Navrocki, emphasized that his meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky could mark "a new beginning of relations" between the two countries, considering Poland's strategic interests.

In an interview with the publication "Wirtualna Polska," he stated openly:

"We have lost the element of partnership between Poland and Ukraine, and I will say this openly".

Navrocki noted that the Ukrainian side "knows very well" the Polish requirements regarding the agenda of the planned meeting. Among the important topics are the Volhynian tragedy and agricultural issues.

He also stressed:

"We have our expectations regarding Ukraine, like we do with all other countries in the world. If we see that important issues for Poles, such as exhumations in Volhynia, are not even a subject of real attention for the Ukrainian side, the question arises: where is the partnership? I hope this will change".

The President of Poland mentioned that Warsaw will continue to support Kyiv, but expressed outrage at one of Zelensky's statements that Ukraine was alone at the beginning of the war.

"It was not alone, that is frankly untrue. We cannot afford to marginalize such massive efforts of support from the entire nation – society, governments, presidents. This is not partnership".

Recall that the meeting between Zelensky and Navrocki is scheduled for December 19 in Warsaw. This date was proposed by Kyiv and officially confirmed by the office of the Polish leader.

Earlier this month, Navrocki again invited Zelensky to visit Poland to discuss important bilateral issues. The Ukrainian president subsequently confirmed his readiness for the meeting.

This upcoming meeting between the presidents promises to be an important step in the relations between the two countries. It opens opportunities for resuming dialogue and discussing sensitive topics that could impact the future cooperation between Poland and Ukraine, especially in the context of current challenges and needs.
