Not by Ukraine alone: Macron warns of new danger from Putin.

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, expressed his concern over the sharp exchange of remarks between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky during their meeting in the White House.
In his interview with La Tribune Dimanche, he is interested in calming the situation and building constructive dialogue. He urged everyone to maintain calm, respect, and recognition of realities in order to move forward. According to him, very important things are at stake.
Immediately after the incident, Macron had phone conversations with both Zelensky and Trump, trying to smooth over the situation. He also stressed that such strategic issues should be discussed confidentially, not in public.
Macron on the role of the US in supporting Ukraine
Despite the tension, Macron is confident that the US cannot withdraw its support for Ukraine. He stated that America's destiny has always been to support Ukraine, and he does not doubt this. He also emphasized that what they have been doing for the past three years is in line with their diplomatic and military traditions. Macron wants to remind Americans that abandoning support for Ukraine does not align with their interests.
However, the US administration seems interested in a quick end to the war through negotiations with Putin, rather than continuing traditional American support for Kyiv.
Macron considers this a strategic mistake. He claims that he wants peace, but it is impossible to have a fair and lasting peace if it means Ukraine's capitulation. He warns that if the US agrees to a ceasefire without security guarantees for Kyiv, it will lead to a loss of Washington's geopolitical influence over Russia, China, and other countries.
Threats from Russia
Macron also emphasized that the Kremlin's policy is the biggest threat to Europe. He states that we are dealing with a rebooted and aggressive Russia that engages in terrorist operations and spreads misinformation in Europe. He believes that if Putin is not stopped, he will soon attack Moldova and then Romania. He warns that this is not just an assumption; it is a logical development of his aggressive policy. He also cautions that if we do not act, our neighbors will be next.
European initiative
Despite the difficult situation, Macron believes that it is possible to create conditions for strong peace. Together with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he is discussing the possibility of deploying European troops that would provide security guarantees for Ukraine.
This idea will be the main topic at the meeting of leaders of 15 European countries in London, where Zelensky will also be present. Additionally, during a recent meeting in Washington, Macron discussed with Trump the possibility of supporting such a format, and according to him, the American leader expressed readiness to provide backup support.
Previously, Macron announced an EU defense plan worth hundreds of billions of euros.
