Starmer Called for Supporting Ukraine to Achieve Peace Through Strength
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of ensuring a strong position for Ukraine in the coming months to achieve peace through strength during a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
'Leaders began the meeting by discussing the progress made between the UK and Germany in recent months, including the signing of the Trinity House Agreement in the defense sector and the Joint Action Plan on tackling illegal migration...
The heads of government agreed that Russia's invasion of Ukraine 'highlighted the importance of scaling up and coordinating defense production across Europe.'
Starmer also reported that lessons learned from the Russian war against Ukraine would be taken into account in the UK's Strategic Defense Review, as well as the need to respond to Putin's aggression and his hostile activities in Europe.
In turn, discussions took place about Starmer's visit to the EU Council meeting and rebooting relations between the UK and the European Union.
'The Prime Minister stated that he is committed to strengthening the UK's relations with the EU for greater growth and closer security ties, which, in his view, would benefit all parties'
