Hungary Leads in Wealth Growth in Europe: Where Else Are People Getting Richer

According to the UBS report 'Global Wealth 2025', from 2023 to 2024, wealth per adult has increased in the vast majority of European countries. The biggest jump in citizens' wealth in the last year occurred in Hungary, followed by Lithuania and Sweden.

On the 'Minfin' portal, detailed information about changes in people's wealth around the world can be found. According to the study, median wealth in Hungary increased by 18.6%, which is the highest figure in Europe. Similar growth rates were also noted in Lithuania, Sweden, Italy, and Latvia.

Among the five largest economies in Europe, the most significant wealth growth was recorded in Italy (15%), while the lowest figures were found in the United Kingdom (5.3%). Furthermore, in 2024, noticeable wealth growth was observed in some countries in Asia, Oceania, and North America.

However, in Turkey, Belgium, China, and Russia, a decrease in median wealth has been recorded. Countries such as Turkey stand out with a sharp drop in wealth over the past year.

The UBS report indicates changes in the distribution of wealth worldwide, pointing to different trends in various countries. The decline in the wealth levels of the population alongside growth reflects complex economic challenges that generate inequalities among people on both national and global scales.
