According to ТСН: An unusual incident occurred in New Zealand: a man is suspected of stealing a piece of jewelry in an unusual way. It appears that he may have swallowed a medallion in the shape of a Fabergé egg, inlaid with diamonds and sapphires, worth over $19,000.

The police have yet to find the missing item, according to reports from the BBC.

Circumstances of the incident

This incident took place last Friday afternoon at Partridge Jewellers in downtown Auckland. Law enforcement arrived at the scene and arrested a 32-year-old man right inside the store.

Description of the medallion

The Fabergé egg-shaped medallion is valued at 33,585 New Zealand dollars (approximately $19,300). According to jewelers, the piece contains 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires. When the egg "Octopus" is opened, one can see a miniature figure of an octopus made from 18-karat gold.

Inspiration for the design

The design of the "Octopus" egg and its name are inspired by a 1983 James Bond film, which also features the theft of a Fabergé egg.

The suspect underwent a medical examination and remains in custody. The next court hearing will take place on December 8.

It is worth noting that recently in London, another incident occurred: unknown individuals boldly disassembled a truck transporting a batch of Transcarpathian wine Chateau Chizay. These events indicate a growing activity of criminals in the field of jewelry and expensive goods.
