Overnight Drone Strike Hits Two Industrial Zones in Kharkiv.
Explosions Rock Kharkiv as Russian Forces Launch Nighttime Attack
According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of June 2, Russian forces targeted Kharkiv with a drone assault. One drone struck an industrial area in the Osnovianskyi district, causing powerful explosions that alarmed local residents. The attack underscores the ongoing vulnerability of Ukraine's second-largest city, which has faced relentless bombardment in recent months.
At around 12:50 AM, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of hostile drones approaching Kharkiv from the north. Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that, fortunately, no casualties were reported.
“A hostile drone hit an industrial zone in the Osnovianskyi district. We are gathering details. For now, no injuries,” — Ihor Terekhov.
During the assault, a second strike was recorded in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv. The city remains on edge, as May saw nearly 100 attacks from Russian forces. Those bombardments resulted in 88 injuries, including 15 children, and one fatality.
Air raid alerts in Kharkiv lasted over 16 days in May, highlighting the persistent danger for residents. The June 2 attack reinforces the ongoing threat to the city and raises serious concerns about civilian safety.
This incident is part of the broader Russia-Ukraine conflict, which began in 2014, and reflects the increasing use of drones in warfare. As one of Ukraine's largest urban centers, Kharkiv faces constant risk, jeopardizing both its residents' security and regional stability.
The situation in and around the city demands heightened attention from national authorities and the international community to ensure civilian protection amid the armed conflict.
