Noppert, Springer's final opponent, was also in excellent form, having knocked out Luke Littler in the semi-finals.
Springer has shown an impressive career rise this season.
In May, while still working part-time, he reached the final of the Dutch Darts Championship, where he won against players like Stephen Bunting, Jermaine Wattimena, and Martin Schindler, prompting him to become a professional player.
He shared his thoughts on the Tops Tops Tops podcast:
“From August, everything will change. I will no longer be working.”
“I enjoyed my job, I was doing well, so it wasn't easy.”
“But I decided that this phase would close — at least for now — in August.”
“When I come home after competitions, it's around three in the morning, and I have to be at work by seven — plus an hour for travel. It gets very exhausting over time.”
“That sense of security goes away for a while, but I have the opportunity to return at any time, without obligations.”
After his fantastic victory in Budapest, Springer couldn't contain his joy:
“I seized my chances, so I am very happy — I can't believe it.”
“You can see how incredible the support from the crowd was, they backed me, and I think I did well.”
When talking about his plans for the rest of the season, he noted:
“My goal was to qualify for the World Championship, and I did that a few months ago, so now I can play with a certain freedom.”
“I have nothing to lose, and I am very glad that I won.”
“I never expected to get close to the World Grand Prix, but I think with this victory, I am in the game.”
Right now, he primarily feels joy from his success.
This victory for Niko Springer at the Hungarian Darts Trophy not only marks an important milestone in his career but also reaffirms the correctness of his decision to leave a stable job in favor of darts. Success in competitions opens new opportunities for him, as he can now play at an even higher level, setting ambitious goals for the future. Given his determination, one can expect that Springer will continue to delight his fans in future competitions.
