Norway allocates 700 million dollars for Patriot systems for Ukraine: details of the agreement.
According to FREEДOM: Norway is assisting Ukraine with Patriot systems
Norway is allocating about 700 million dollars for Patriot systems for Ukraine. According to the Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik, this is being done to protect Ukrainian civilian and military facilities from Russian aggression.
'Air defense is crucial for the protection of public and military facilities and infrastructure. We are now joining efforts with Germany. We will pay for two Patriot systems and missiles for them for Ukraine,' Sandvik stated.
The Norwegian government reminded that earlier German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre agreed on the transfer of two Patriot systems to Ukraine. The systems are currently located in Germany and will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future. The United States confirmed that they will replace the transferred systems, and Norway will contribute financially to their replacement.
President Zelensky noted that Ukraine has agreements for three of the ten necessary Patriot systems. Additionally, the Netherlands is also providing new military assistance to Ukraine, including components of the Patriot system and missiles for them.
