The Notary Chamber demands to stop e-Notary: what is the reason for the scandal.

According to inkorr.com: The Notary Chamber of Ukraine has called for the testing of the electronic notary system to be halted due to risks of compromising confidential information. Chamber representatives emphasized the need to stop testing in order to protect citizens' personal data.

The Chamber appealed to the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Justice, pointing to gross violations of legislation and breaches of notary secrecy due to the potential access to registers of powers of attorney and wills.

The Notary Chamber also stressed the need to eliminate vulnerabilities that may lead to access to confidential data. At the same time, they are ready to cooperate to improve the e-Notary system and create a reliable service.

Suspicions of confidentiality violations in electronic notariat

Amid claims of possible leaks of personal data during the testing of the system, the Ministry of Digital Transformation refuted these statements. They explained that notaries already have access to information about powers of attorney and inheritance cases within their professional activities, adhering to confidentiality standards.

Thus, the department believes that the problems arise not from the system itself, but from the control over access to information by notaries.

It is now important to ensure a balance between the introduction of new technologies and the protection of personal data.
