On Wednesday morning, there was a fire at Stansted Airport.

This led to the closure of some areas of the airport and serious travel delays.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a coffee machine in the departure area.

Emergency services arrived at the Escape Lounge at 3:30 AM and found 'significant amounts of smoke' coming from the terminal.

Security was closed, and passengers were moved to another part of the third busiest terminal at London airport.

Forest fan Joe Hollman, who planned to fly to Seville for the match, told BBC Radio Essex:

“We thought we had given ourselves enough time. We left Nottingham just after midnight and arrived at Stansted around three. Everything was going well, we got through security quickly, entered the departure area, and then everything went wrong.”

“We were sitting down for breakfast and got evacuated from the restaurant. We couldn't get out of the departure area, couldn't reach the exit, and by the time we finally got there, the plane had already left.”

“We had to book a new flight – waiting here. We hope the next flight won’t be delayed.”

“We have limited time to get to Seville in time for the match tonight. There are a lot of Forest fans at the airport. We’ve spoken to a few who are now flying to Porto, so they'll have a hard time making it on time.”

“One of our friends got stuck at security and couldn’t make the new flight. He decided to go back home – he’ll miss this match.”

This situation highlights how unforeseen circumstances can affect the plans of millions of fans. Delays at airports due to fires or technical issues always create anxiety for travelers. Nottingham Forest fans, who hoped to see their team in a historic match, are now experiencing inconveniences, but their hopes for the trip to still happen remain strong.

The competition in the Europa League is a landmark event for the club, so fans, even with difficulties, still believe in the team and are prepared to support it from afar if they cannot make it to the stadium.
