Major Aid Package Announced After Ramstein Summit
According to Novyny.live: Following the Ramstein meeting on February 13, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced a substantial new $38 billion aid package for Ukraine. This commitment includes funding for drones, air defense systems, and Patriot missiles, with specific aid pledges announced at the summit totaling over $6 billion.
The breakdown of the $6+ billion in immediate pledges is as follows:
- $2.5 billion is allocated for Ukrainian drones;
- $500 million for the PURL program;
- $2 billion for air defense systems.
This support is part of a broader international effort, with numerous partner nations announcing their own contributions. The Ramstein format, a U.S.-led coalition of defense ministers, has become a primary coordinating body for military assistance to Ukraine. Key pledges from allies include:
- The United Kingdom is committing £500 million for air defense;
- Germany is directing at least €1 billion toward drones;
- Norway is providing $7 billion, with $1.4 billion designated for drones;
- Sweden announced a new aid package worth €1.2 billion;
- Denmark is increasing its military aid by $425 million;
- Spain is allocating $1.2 billion;
- Canada is joining the support with $50 million for the 'Danish model';
- Lithuania will provide $265 million;
- Latvia and Estonia will direct at least 0.25% of their GDP to support Ukraine;
- Australia announced a new contribution to PURL;
- Turkey will bolster air defense with its contribution;
- Slovenia declared a new aid package of $5 million.
