According to inkorr.com: Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the launch of a new contract system in the Ukrainian military with clear service terms ranging from one to five years. This decision was made during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky on November 8, 2025.
New contract system and terms
"A key condition of the new contracts will be a guaranteed deferment from mobilization for a period of 12 months after service completion. This provision will apply to contracts lasting from two to five years."
The base salary for contract soldiers will be 50,000-60,000 hryvnias. Various bonuses, increased combat payments, and a signing bonus, which will depend on the chosen service term, will be added to it.
All interested parties will be able to sign a new contract, and servicemen will have the right to choose their brigade and position independently. The Ministry of Defense plans to amend the legislation to implement the new system at the beginning of 2026.
