New Cameras in the Netherlands: 12,000 Fines for Phones While Driving in 4 Months.
According to inkorr.com: In the Netherlands, new experimental cameras recorded over 12,000 violations in four months. These specialized devices for monitoring the use of mobile phones while driving operate in The Hague and ten other cities from May to August this year. The fine for each violation is €430.
Most Problematic Areas
The highest number of violations was recorded on the N307 highway near Kampen, where the camera 'caught' 4,130 drivers with phones. Second place goes to Lozerlaan in The Hague with 1,677 fines, and third place is the N50 near Kampen with 1,003 cases.
Increase in Violations
According to comparative analysis, there is a significant increase. The total number of fines for using mobile devices reached 79,000, which is 23,000 more compared to the same period in 2024. Official representatives explain this growth to the introduction of new detection technologies.
Thus, it is evident that drivers still neglect the law prohibiting the use of phones while driving, despite the high fines.
In this situation, it is important to note that the introduction of new monitoring cameras not only increases the effectiveness of recording violations but also calls into question drivers' adherence to traffic rules. This data suggests that despite significant financial consequences, behavior on the road may remain dangerous. It is important to remember awareness and responsibility on the road, as it can save not only drivers' lives but also those of other road users.Read also
