Ukraine has announced the detection of two new subvariants of the coronavirus - Nimbus and Stratus, which are part of the 'Omicron' strain and spread faster than previous variants. This information was provided by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
New coronavirus strains in Ukraine
In Ukraine, 38 cases of the Stratus subvariant and one case of Nimbus have been confirmed, belonging to the 'Omicron' strain. According to the Center for Public Health, just in one week, COVID-19 has been confirmed in 1197 people. Experts urge at-risk individuals to get vaccinated amid the rising infection rates.
Ukraine is already using an omicron-specific vaccine, adapted for protection against the Omicron variant and its subvariants. This strain poses the greatest threat to the elderly, children, and individuals with chronic diseases.
According to the Ministry of Health, new subvariants of the coronavirus - Nimbus and Stratus - have been identified in Ukraine, which need to be closely monitored due to their rapid spread.
