Entry Rules for Poland Are Changing in 2026

According to Novyny.live: Starting in 2026, Ukrainian citizens planning to enter Poland will need to comply with the new Entry/Exit System (EES), which mandates pre-authorization and the submission of biometric data. Under these new regulations, Ukrainians must obtain authorization through the EES to cross the border. The system is scheduled to be fully operational by April 10, 2026. These changes are part of a broader EU-wide initiative to modernize border management.

For Ukrainians traveling to Poland after the EES launch, fingerprinting and a photograph will be required only during their first border crossing. The collected data will be stored electronically for a period of three years. The EES will be implemented at the borders of all European Union member states, with the exception of Ireland and Cyprus.

Key Changes and Additional Requirements

Furthermore, the introduction of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is planned for six months after the EES goes live. It is also important to note that as of January 2026, the minimum gross monthly wage in Poland will be 4,806 Polish złoty. The new entry rules and security system updates establish fresh requirements for Ukrainian citizens intending to travel to the country.

The implementation of the EES reflects a growing trend within the European Union towards strengthening border control and improving the management of migration flows. These changes may affect the number of Ukrainian tourists and workers planning trips to Poland, as the new procedures could require additional time and preparation.

This also underscores the importance for Ukrainian citizens to adapt to the new requirements, which may, in turn, influence their employment and residency plans in Poland.
